Manufacture date and rear output housings are the key identifiers of the early 4L60 transmission and the 4L60E transmissions not indicating the E designation. The E transmission designation may be removed from more recently produced models of the 4L60E transmission, since all the transmissions are now electronically controlled.
CYTOMIC THE GLUE VS NI SUPERCHARGER UPGRADE
A significant upgrade from the 4L60 transmission is the fact the 4L60E transmission has a removable bellhousing, allowing greater access to the transmission parts. The bolt pattern is not a guaranteed distinction, however, as early 4L60E transmissions, manufactured from throughalso have a four-bolt pattern. The 4L60 transmission is configured with a four-bolt pattern. The rear output housing is configured with a six-bolt pattern in late model 4L60E transmissions. Shift points are based on rpm, throttle ranges and a variety of conditions. Electronic shift control is handled by the vehicles on-board computer system. The "E" designation refers to the electronic shift controlled variation found in the 4L60E transmission design. The 4L60E transmission has proven to be stronger than then original 4L60 and is installed in applications up to 8,lb. Available for just three years, the 4L60 transmission was installed in the GM truck line, the Pontiac Firebird, Chevrolet Camaro and in some Corvette applications. If you’re using another DAW as well, or really like the more advanced oversampling features then the plugin version may be better for you.The 4L60 was manufactured by General Motor's Corporation and was available from to The 4L60 was the first automatic overdrive transmission specifically designed for rear-wheel high performance applications. So if you don’t use oversampling, or the sidechain filters, you will get exactly the same results from both The Glue plugin and the Glue compressor device in Live. I’m working with the guys at Ableton to add support for a one pole high pass as well. The sidechain filter in The Glue uses a one pole high pass only, the Ableton version has a 2 pole EQ section instead. I added the other modes primarily for The Scream, but added them to all products anyway to keep them using the same framework. Linear phase works best for most things so is still the recommended one to use.

I’ve also recently updated all Cytomic products to have not just linear phase oversampling, but also intermediate and minimum phase. The oversampling in The Glue is slightly better quality, but also introduces slightly more latency and CPU load.

The Ableton version has some slightly different processing around the core DSP, specifically the oversampling and the sidechain filter. There are plenty of updates and changes going on for the better so please be patient.Īs for The Glue vs the Glue Compressor device, the do have exactly the same core DSP in both. The Ableton guys do listen, but it takes time to get stuff done. I really like Krafty Kuts so its awesome to hear he likes using The Glue!
